Parque Nacional de Manyara

Lake Manyara National Park Stretching for 50km along the base of the rusty- gold 600- metre high rift valley escarpment, lake Manyara is a scenic fem, with a setting extolled by ernest iteming way as “The loveliest I had seen in Africa”.

One of the smallest parks in Tanzania, with an area of 648 square kilometers. Bounded on the west by the failure of the Rift Valley and on to east by the alkaline lake Manyara, which comes to occupy a third of the valley during the rainy season.

Despite not offering a variety of wildlife as abundant as other northern parks or be so spectacular, known  for his eleven ecosystems and its  high density of mammals.

Among its fauna includes elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffe, buffalos, wildebeest, all easily visible to a lesser extent, hyenas, leopard and tree lions

When should you go?

  • From  June to October the best time to se large mammals and from November to June birdwatching
  • April and May, during the rainy season, prone to flooding easily, making it difficult transit through certain areas.
